Overview
The Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project has been protecting sea turtle nests on Sri Lanka's southwest coast since 1981, making it one of the oldest and most respected turtle conservation efforts in Asia. The hatchery rescues and incubates thousands of eggs each year, rears vulnerable hatchlings until they are strong enough to survive, and rehabilitates injured adult turtles found entangled in fishing nets.
- See five species of endangered sea turtle at Sri Lanka's oldest turtle hatchery
- Walk through the hatchery pools and see turtles at every stage of life
- Learn about the threats to sea turtles and the conservation mission from expert staff
- See rescued adult turtles with injuries from fishing nets and boats
- Responsible tourism — your entry fee directly funds the conservation project
